Our team is so pleased to acknowledge that it is now officially Fall! Pretty leaves, pumpkin spice and everything nice will soon be transforming our daily activities into a seasonal experience. Flannel and Fall’s hottest prints are filling the windows of our boutiques and let’s be honest, cooler weather is on everyone’s mind!

The News vs. The Press

The News vs. The Press

Despite decades of writing headlines, I still got severe writer’s block when trying to come up with a title for my own column. So, “Kate’s Column” will have to do. I’m not sure how often I will have something to say that’s worth your time to read, so don’t count on it every week. Every now and then I get a notion to say a few words about topics that mean something to me (it will never be about politics or sports). Needless to say, my opinion doesn’t necessarily reflect that of the publisher or owners of this newspaper. If it’s not your cup of tea, that’s okay – there are plenty of other things to read about in this newspaper.

Linden is well and full of fried chicken! We had a successful USDA “Farmers to Families” food distribution last Friday. We distributed over 30,000 pounds of chicken to the community. This program is a great one and developed to not waste the agriculture products that were in excess due to the COVID-19 restrictions. It has been a great thing for Linden. Thanks to Horace Hodge of the USDA and Flo Stevens of the Fairview Reunion group. Special thanks to all the volunteers who showed up and a big shout out to the Lady’s from Texana Bank who came out to help last Friday. It is rewarding work, but hot heavy work as well. There will be a vegetable distribution this Friday at 3 p.m. as well. The time is flexible and may shift, so keep an eye on lindentexas. org and Linden Texas Facebook page.
