Within the month of July, Cass County has seen nearly 50 new Covid-19 cases. This comes at a time when people were beginning to be hopeful of a post-pandemic life. As the increase has happened in our community there also has been an increase of people wearing masks indoors. As of July 9, there have been 4678 reported cases since the start of the pandemic.
According to a press release on June 30, “the Texas Department of State Health Services and local health departments have identified multiple cases of monkeypox in Texas in people who did not travel outside the state. Public health testing has found a total of 12 monkeypox cases in Texas residents. While the first cases involved international travel, three patients report that they did not travel in the three weeks before becoming sick, meaning they were exposed in Texas.” That number has since increased to 26. As of today, there have been no reported cases in Cass County.
