Linden Garden Club October Yard of the Month

The Linden Garden Club has selected the yard of Kirby and Prairie Pate for its October 2025 Yard of the Month Award. The Pate’s property is located at 911 North U.S. Hwy. 59, Linden, and serves as a beautiful “Welcome” to folks coming into Linden from the Atlanta area – the beautifully landscaped home sits close to the “Music City Texas” sign which welcomes visitors to Linden.

Skipper Steely of Paris, TX, spoke to the Cass County Genealogical Society Oct. 9, on the settlement of the Red River Valley area and especially Miller County. His book on this subject is “Six Months from Tennessee.”

“Someday a friend will come along and occupy this table and chair with me,” the pumpkin is saying. Their meeting will be at Jana’s Mercantile.

Kali Rushing is welcoming customers at her photography studio on East Hiram. Her pumpkins will try to get in the picture, too.

Each year, the Atlanta Methodist Church has the biggest patch of pumpkins on sale and for display. Notice on this display the visitor can find out how “pumpkin tall” you are.

He’s big, he’s orange and he’s happy. Say hello to this pumpkin giant at Jana’s Mercantile.

It will be hard to find a more artistic display of pumpkins and Halloween than this yard on East Hiram Street in Atlanta.

Is that not a witch’s hat on top of this craggy pumpkin? Both of them have a lot of buttons and stars, moons and knobs. Jana O’Rear at Jana’s Mercantile takes care of them both.

The Cutting Company Salon and Barber Shop has put pumpkins at its front door. The company wants to look as good for itself as it does for its customers.

Music City Texas Theater lines up a solid set of entertainers throughout the year including home grown acts such as Stevie Ray and the Deacon who will perform at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 18.
