Around ‘Pumpkinville’... er.. Atlanta

Every fall Atlanta gets inundated with pumpkins. From store front to front yard, the pumpkins appear. They are welcome.

The pumpkin is an unusual type of winter squash, a member of the gourd family. It has good health benefits as well as a striking personality.

The Great Pumpkin is a hero. A super food. The story of the Great Pumpkin is that Linus waits all night in the pumpkin patch for the Great Pumpkin who he believes will deliver toys to children. His friends make fun of him, but Linus doesn’t waver. Sadly, the Great Pumpkin never appears. Linus determines to wait until next year.

And so, in Atlanta, each fall, the town waits, too. We wait for winter, and the gifts of Christmas. Here are pictures of a few homes, church and businesses who have happily plumped down pumpkins in their yard.
