The Queen City bands presented music played by the QCHS Jazz Band and several other groups of musicians from the M.U.M.S. classes recently. They were joined by special musical guests from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Ark.
The story of the building of St. Williams Church probably took root as early as 1909, when a Catholic family from Red Hill by the name of McCall came to Sacred Heart in Texarkana to have their child baptized. (possibly Mary Frances Lambert McCall, the eldest daughter of the Colonel and his second wife.)
The benefits of a farmers market to small towns and communities are numerous. From providing fresh produce to communities to increasing foot traffic for small, locally owned businesses, farmer’s markets are a wonderful addition to towns.
On March 11, at approximately 2:01 p.m., Highway Patrol Troopers investigated a motor vehicle crash on SH-11 west of Linden in Cass County. Investigation revealed a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling west on SH-11. For an unknown reason, the driver swerved to avoid an object in the roadway and took evasive action. The vehicle then left the traveled portion of the roadway and overturned. The driver, Gina Corley, 49, of Linden, was taken to a local hospital by private vehicle for non-life threatening injuries. Several citizens helped to secure the vehicle so that the individual could be safely pulled from the vehicle.
Friday the 13th normally isn’t a day that people celebrate. It is most associated with a day of bad luck. One business in Linden is proving that superstition wrong. Crump’s Food Center celebrated twenty years of business on Friday, March 13.
