CHRISTUS honors Wyatt

CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital - Atlanta honored Fran Wyatt, long-time volunteer, with a “Celebration of Service” on Tuesday, June 29, upon her “retirement” after 20 years of volunteer service at the hospital. Approximately 60 hospital volunteers, staff, friends and family took the opportunity to share their appreciation for Wyatt at the event.

On July 6, the Atlanta Senior Center held a special celebration for a very special guest. Robert “Bobby” Allday was celebrated for his lifelong commitment to his community. Allday was honored by his “Uncertain Band, who perform at the Senior Center each Tuesday. Several members of the band shared memories of Allday. Vice-Mayor Dean Mc- Duff also recognized Allday with a beautiful proclamation that touched on several of the wonderful contributions he has made to his community. McDuff ended his proclamation by announcing that July 6 will be observed as Bobby Allday Appreciation Day. Indeed it is a well-deserved observance for a man whose heart is as big as his community.

Stephen Johnston Harrod 1834-1915

Stephen Johnston Harrod, born 18 Jun 1834, on a farm near Clayton in Barbour County, Alabama, was the third of eight children born to Nancy (Johnston) and Eli Harrod. He was named for his mother’s father Stephen Johnston. When Stephen was six months old, his parents moved to Lowndes County, Mississippi near a small village called Colbert. Here they lived for nearly eleven years.
