Conviction made in downtown fire

Bobby Ray Denton, 20, of Douglassville was sentenced to five years in the Institutional Division of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) on two counts of Arson and 10 years of Deferred Adjudication for Criminal Mischief >=$300,000 for his involvement in the 2019 downtown Atlanta fires.

FM 248 to be closed

Motorists who normally travel FM 248 south of Kildare will need to find an alternate route on Wednesday, July 14. Union Pacific Railroad will be closing the highway to through-traffic on this date from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. to make repairs to the railroad crossing.

State Bank is moving

Effective, July 15, 2021, State Bank has agreed to assume the current leases of the Wells Fargo branch bank and relocate its existing office to the downtown Atlanta bank building according to Joe Nichols, CEO of State Bank. The relocation is expected to occur in September 2021 assuming regulatory approval and completion of all facility and equipment updates. A State Bank ATM should be installed by mid-August.
