TEXAS HISTORY MINUTE

The twentieth century in the United States was marked by incredible progress in science, transforming a nation of farmers spending their lives working with their animals and the strength in their hands into a technological powerhouse where electricity, computers, instantaneous communications, and high-tech machinery are indispensable to every facet of life. These achievements were due to the work of men and women in numerous fields. It was also in the last century that women were able to make significant contributions to science in large numbers for the first time. One of those pioneers in scientific research and leadership was chemist Mary L. Good.

City Administrator UPDATE

Linden is enjoying reopening. We will go slow enough to maintain confidence but we are all anxious to get back to full function. No date yet on Library reopen. We are changing around how it is managed and hiring a new Librarian, details on the position are on linden texas.org. Sr Center will remain as is for the time being, we will still be providing a to-go lunch.

Etiquette in the age of COVID-19

Last week I received a phone call from a kind, yet frustrated, gentleman who proceeded to tell me about an experience he had at a local chain store. He explained that a few of the employees were not wearing a mask. Since he and his wife are elderly and concerned about their health because of their vulnerability to COVID-19, they approached the manager to complain. The manager told them that he would talk to the employee and have it fixed. The next time the man and his wife visited the same store, they saw that some of the employees were not wearing masks, including the manager.
