The countryside lights up
By 1902 the city of Atlanta had electricity furnished by Southwestern Gas and Electric Company, with a power plant on West Street. However, it was more than 37 years later that homes outside the city limits were wired with electricity through the newly-formed Bowie Cass Electric Cooperative.
