Queen City sophomore Mason Campbell took part in the Chill on the Hill Junior Livestock Show in Mt. Pleasant last weekend and earned Reserve Grand Champion and Junior Market Goat honors. Mason also won the Cass County Livestock Show recently with the same goat and will be going to more jackpots in Fort Worth and Houston in March of 2022. Mason bred and raised his goat at the Campbell Farm - 4C Livestock.
The Atlanta High School doubles’ duo of Jackson Eli Dillinger and Landon Moore placed second overall in a tournament at Texarkana College.
The second annual Veteran’s Day Celebration was held last Thursday evening at the Veteran’s Plaza in downtown Atlanta. The master of ceremonies was Kate Stow of the Cass County Citizens Journal-Sun, which sponsors the event. Other sponsors this year were J.E. Manning American Legion Post 258, VFW Post 5870, Mission 22, The Gary Sinise Foundation and Heritage Home Health.
A few months ago, I had a health scare that forced me to face my own mortality. As I maneuvered through various specialists and endured being poked and prodded on the regular, a few new prescriptions were added to my daily arsenal, and it was determined that I would be okay. I told Dr. Dan (Nichols - my doctor of 52 years) that I was sick and tired of seeing “ologists.”
Kellianne Lambert of Atlanta, Texas, was recently honored with the First Year Basic Science Award at Southern College of Optometry. The award, with recipients selected by the SCO faculty, recognizes students who have excelled academically and demonstrated outstanding clinical skills.
