The Rabbits varsity boys’ basketball team fell to Paris in district play by a score of, 59-41.
The leading scorer for the Rabbits was Daimion Collins with 18 points followed by Charlie Powell with 11 points.
The Lady Rabbs basketball team topped Paris by a final score of, 55-52, in Friday night’s ballgame in Atlanta.
Sheveonia Smith was the leading scorer with 28 points followed by Keyona Easter with 13 points and Kinsey Kelly scoring six points for the Lady Rabbits.
Atlanta is currently in third place in district play behind Pleasant Grove and Liberty Eylau.
McLeod’s varsity boys’ topped Avery, 53-28. McLeod (21-6) scored 28 points before the halftime break as the Longhorns posted a, 28-12, lead after two quarters of play.
Zach Prince scored 13 points, Trevor Deel added 11 and both Mac Calhoun and Dagan keener posted eight apiece.
McLeod’s varsity girls’ beat Avery, 39-28, in district play. Shelby Davis scored a team-high 14 points, Selena Moon added 11, Jilian Ellis eight and Jillian Parker six.
Last week weather forced back-to-back basketball days. Queen City’s varsity boys traveled to Hughes Springs last Thursday and left town with a, 58-50, win.
Queen City was led by Alex Carver with 20 points and Tyler Nolen with 16 points.
Easton Fincher added nine and Dylan Scott had seven.
The two teams were tied 15-all after the first quarter but QC held a slight, 26-21, lead at the break.
Hughes Springs stayed within five points of the Bulldogs most of the way as QC posted a, 37-32, lead after three quarters of play. The Bulldogs were 14-of-20 from the line.
The Lady Bulldogs thumped Hughes Springs, 50-28, last Thursday night.
Two quarters of the game Hughes Springs outscored QC by two points and one point respectively.
The other two quarters QC outscored the Lady Mustangs, 12-2 and 15-0.
Jessica Jones scored 25 points, Jacie Lance scored 13 and Tiera Johnson added six.
Both Jessica and Jacie were 4-for-4 from the charity stripe.
CeCe Walker had a team-high eight rebounds, Madi Jones added seven and Jacie Lance had seven boards and nine deflections.
Queen City’s varsity girls beat Daingerfield, 74-44, the next night Jan. 19. The Lady Bulldogs (20-2, 9-0) were up, 38-17, at the break.
Jessica Jones scored a game-high 28 points, CeCe Walker added 15, Jacie Lance 13 and Madi Jones 12. CeCe also pulled down eight boards in the contest.
With the win QC has won 14 straight ball games since its last loss on Nov. 30.
Last week the Morris Upchurch Middle School Lady Bulldogs battled Hughes Springs.
The seventh grade A team beat Hughes Springs, 15-4. Sydni Davis scored 11 points for QC.
The eighth grade A team lost, 24-20. Nyla Harrison scored 13 points for the Lady Bulldogs.
