L-K coaches host summer football camp
Linden-Kildare AD Derek Simmons and his coaching staff hosted another summer football camp last week on the Tigers’ practice field.
The Tuesday camp was for incoming seventh-ninth graders and 17 showed up to participate.
Campers ran 40’s, went through agility stations, then learned football fundamentals on both offense and defense. Coaches were very pleased at the conclusion of the camp for the hard work and dedication that the kids showed throughout the three-hour morning session.
Wednesday saw another 17 attendees made up of third-sixth grade boys (and one girl).
The younger group also participated in a 40-yard dash, had a punt, pass and kick competition, were introduced to several agility stations, then finished their portion of the camp with a game of touch football, which by the way ended in a tie. Once again the coaches came away very impressed with this young group.
The Punt/Pass/Kick winners for 2017 are as follows: third/fourth grade - punt winner was “Toddy” Webster and the pass and kick winner was Evan Mitchell.
The fifth/sixth grade - punt winner was Maysen Lemmon, who also won the kick contest, and the pass winner was Peyton Foreman.
“The L-K Tiger football staff would also like to thank the following sponsors of this year’s camp for helping make everything possible: Cass County’s Front Porch, A Wild Hair Salon, Royal Inn Motel, Hammett Real Estate, B.B. Boon Insurance, S &S Love Trucking, Jim Surratt Motor Co., B & G Automotive, Jerry Berry A.C. and Electric, Linden Fuel Center, Cobar Industries, Carla’s Flowers and Gifts, Trico, Farm Bureau, Conn’s Auto Supply, Texana Bank, GE Aviation, MJS Management, Kim’s Country Store, Crumps, Classic State Line, Inc, and Tonsorial Arts,” Simmons said.
