Martha Lou Roberts Alexander
Martha Lou Roberts Alexander, 85, ‘Tobbie Jean’ to her family and friends, passed away Monday, June 13, 2022, at her home in Liberty, TX. Tobbie was born to Alvin and Marie (Stuckey) Roberts in Atlanta, TX on August 6, 1936. She graduated from Bloomburg High School, where she had been a cheerleader. Tobbie attended Texarkana College after graduation.
She married William F. ‘Bill’ Alexander of Bright Star, AR on June 18, 1955. They made their home in Greens Bayou for many years, where Bill was an electrician supervisor with Armco Steel Houston Works. They enjoyed attending the activities of their daughters in the Galena Park schools and visiting with Armco friends. In later years, they enjoyed attending the school activities of their grandchildren in Brazos and Liberty counties. The Alexanders moved to Liberty, TX in 2005, and were married for 60 years.
Martha had many hobbies. She enjoyed cooking for her family, antiquing, collecting, and watching game shows and the Hallmark Channel.
She is survived by her daughters Regina (Kirk) Edney of College Station and Kim (Joe Jr.) Hutcheson of Liberty, three grandchildren: Lauren (Edney) Lewis and her husband Ryan of Columbia, SC, Sara (Hutcheson) Fritch and her husband Michael of Cedar Park, TX, and Sean Hutcheson of Nederland, TX, sister-in-law Annette Roberts of Shreveport, LA, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Marie Roberts of Bright Star, AR, her husband William F. Alexander, her brother Leon Roberts, formerly of Blanchard, LA, and her sister and brother-in-law Christine and Hubert Philpott of Houston, TX.
The family wishes to express their appreciation for her very special caregivers Tina Thibodeaux and Vernitta Rivon of Raywood, TX and to Hospice of Liberty/Dayton.
A visitation was held Friday, June 17, 2022, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Hanner Funeral Service in Atlanta, TX. A graveside service was held Saturday, June 18, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Olive Branch Cemetery.
