John Clark Childress
John Clark Childress, 78 of Bivins, Texas passed away on June 19, 2020.
Funeral services wereheld at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at Gorsulowsky Funeral Home Chapel in Vivian, LA, officiated by Rev. Ken Guthrie and Rev. Jim Looby, burial will follow at Good Exchange Cemetery in McLeod, TX.
John was born on April 28, 1942 in Atlanta, TX to Louis and Opal Childress. He lived most of his life in McLeod, Texas. He loved to farm, ride tractors and plow fields. He loved to work in his wood shop and remodel houses. He enjoyed giving Kyla a hard time, but he knew she would always take care of him. If he went anywhere he was taking his own truck, he didn’t like riding with anyone.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his son Jon Gregory Childress, his grandson, Jake Smith, and his two brothers, Gaylon and Sander Childress.
He is survived by his wife Linda Childress of McLeod, TX, his 3 children, Kyle Childress and wife Becky of Anderson, TX, Kyla Smith and husband Jack of McLeod, TX, and Kelli Petty and husband Mike of McLeod, TX, his 6 grandchildren, Hunter Smith and wife Tiffany, K’lynn Childress, Ryan Childress and wife Courtney, Hannah Childress, Cydni Johnson and husband Michael, and Blade Petty. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Kam and Kase Johnson, Haddie, John and George Childress, and his long-time friend, Ronny Mullens.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Winnie Green at Heritage Hospice, and to Earline Reliford, Kyra and Tazia.
