Jimmy Phay Davis, of Bloomburg, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 18, 2020 at Christus St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Texas, surrounded by loved ones.
Jimmy was born on April 27, 1938 in Cass, Texas. He was a business man who ventured in banking, insurance, and equipment sales over the years.
His work in the timber industry spanned over 50 years though, and he was still buying and selling timber until his final days.
He spent most of his time behind the wheel of a truck going to visit and drink coffee with family and friends, and sometimes just to be out driving the roads in Cass County. His greatest joy in life was being known as “Papaw” and “Papa.”
He made it a point to visit his grandchildren and great-granddaughter almost every single day, and would even make multiple drive-bys each day until he caught them home.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his father, Willard Presley Davis, his mother, Eunice Verda Philpott Davis, and his brother W. G. Davis.
He is survived by his daughter, Joni Hooker and husband Jake; grandchildren, Felicia Huddleston, Jordyn Jones, and Jax Jones, great-granddaughter, Phoebe Huddleston, daughter, Pam Huddleston and husband Mike; brother, Ted Davis and wife Quenna; sisters, Charlotte Pyle, Judy Calhoun and husband Fred, Niecy Adams and husband Jeff and a number of other relatives and friends.
