REV. JAMES A. MANNING

The Rev. James A. Manning, age 74, of Atlanta, went to be with the Lord Thursday, May 10, 2018, in a local adult care facility.
He was born May 6, 1944, in Houston, to James D. and Lula Mae Arnold Manning. He was the retired pastor of Open Door Baptist Church in Queen City, was retired from the Texarkana Texas Police Department and was retired from the Bowie County Sheriff’s Office. He also served for six years in the Texas National Guard.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dotty Manning; brother, Earnie Manning; sister, Judy Thomas; step-daughter, Twyla Kilboy; and his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Jones Manning of Atlanta; son, Lane Manning and wife Wendy of Atlanta; daughters, Karen Carpenter of Atlanta and Robin Bennefield and husband Ronny of Queen City; step-son, Lynn Jones of Atlanta; brother, Richard Manning and wife Deanna of Paris; sister-in-law, Donna Sampler of Lewisville; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives.
Memorial services were at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 12, at Open Door Baptist Church with Bro. Jackie Stanfield officiating under the irder tion of Hanner Funeral Service.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 3, at First Baptist Church in Ore City. Interment followed at Ore City Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home of Ore City.
