Shirley Ann Hill Mayo, 82, of Texarkana, died Saturday, March 3, 2018, in a local hospice facility. She was born May 23, 1935, in Texarkana. She was a former secretary for Red River Army Depot and was formerly in marketing for Visiting Nurse Association and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Queen City.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Mayo; two daughters, Cindy Pedron and husband Daren and Julie Steitler; two grandchildren, Ryan Steitler and Lily Turner; a brother, Johnnie Hill of Atlanta; and special friends, Avis Reardon and Sue McAlexander.
Visitation was from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, at Texarkana Funeral Home.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, at First United Methodist Church in Queen City with the Rev. Ron Drye officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 304 Marietta St., Queen City, TX 75572.

Virginia Mae Jewell Brumm, 89, of Texarkana, died Thursday, March 1, 2018, at her residence surrounded by family. She was born Sept. 10, 1927, in Michigan.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, John Noble Brumm; her father, Clinton Jewell I; mother, Viva Southard Jewell; two infant sisters; her brother, Clinton “Pete” Jewell II and wife Patricia, who was a sister, not just a sister in-law; and special cousins, Joe and Mary Louise Geierman, Emily Hodgman, Richard Jewell, Betty Lasley, Beverly Nable, Richard Sellers and Dorothy Hague
She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Joan Marie Brumm; her granddaughter, Rachel Mae Brumm; and her three great-grandchildren, Edward John Noble, Nicholas Alexander and Victoria Ann-Marie; one brother Eric Jewell and and wife Connie of Florida; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Brumm Fidler and Donna Brumm; three nephews, Clinton Jewel and wife Gloria of Texas, Terry Jewell of Oregon and Jim Fidler and wife Diane of Michigan; four nieces, Janis Jewell Rizzo and husband Nick of California, Diane Fidler of Michigan, Judy Brumm Lewis and Cheri Brumm Hull; special cousins, Evelyn Katona, Ruth Ann Cady, Cookie Kish, Jean Matthews and Delores Jewell.
She lived an amazing life. She volunteered in the inner city of Detroit working with the poor and teaching children to read. In Hawaii, she was part of a group that fed the homeless, taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school. In Texas, she worked with the needy, visited people in nursing homes, taught Sunday school and vacation Bible school. She taught her children, granddaughter and great-grandchildren how to help the needy, care for people, what unconditional love meant, how important family is and the love of God.
She will be terribly missed, but her family rejoices in the knowledge that she is in heaven and we will all be together again one day.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.
A memorial service honoring her life will be later in Coldwater, Mich.

Andrew Joseph Morris, 46, of Springdale, Ark., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark. He was born Sept. 5, 1972, in Louisville, Ky., to James and Judy Morris.
He was a fantastic musician and a swimming champion in school and he loved to paint.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Survivors include one daughter, Reagan Morris of Watauga; his father, James Morris and wife Cora; two brothers, James Morris Jr. and wife Maaike of London, England, and Christopher Morris and wife Pamela of Oklahoma City, Okla.
No services are planned. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Sisco Funeral Chapel of Springdale, Ark.

Joe Scruggs, 78, of Doddridge, Ark., went to be with the Lord Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, in a Texarkana hospital.
He was born Dec. 22, 1939, in Gravelly, Ark., to R.W. and Gertha Scruggs. He was the retired owner of Scruggs Timber and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Doddridge. He enjoyed spending time fishing hunting and cattle ranching.
He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Scruggs; a granddaughter, Courtney Scruggs; his parents; two sisters; and three brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy Scruggs of Doddridge; son, Todd Scruggs and wife Stephanie of Magnolia, Ark.; daughter, Pam Durham and husband David of Doddridge; five grandchildren, Brittany Corley, Aimee White, April Durham, Sydney Scruggs and Lainey Scruggs; five great-grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 2, at Hanner Funeral Service.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 3, at Mount Zion Baptist Church with Bro. Gary O’Day officiating. Interment followed at the Mount Zion Cemetery under the direction of Hanner Funeral Service.
