Willie Katharine Thompson McCain, 66, of Hughes Springs, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2017, at her residence.
She was born March 2, 1951, in Atlanta.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Thompson Jr. and Mary Katharine Harrison Thompson. She is survived by her husband of 43 years and high school sweetheart, Wymor Milton McCain of Hughes Springs; daughters, Heather McGregor and husband James of Daingerfield and Amber Hunt and husband Donny of Atlanta; three adored grandchildren Mary Katharine McGregor, William McCain Hunt and Chandler Ray Hunt; brother, John Thompson III and wife Paula of Atlanta; three nieces and one nephew Christy Wooldrige, Troy Key, Heather Hornbuckle and Hope Thompson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and nieces and friends whom she loved deeply.
She was a long time resident of Atlanta, until she retired in Hughes Springs, where she spent the last 20 years. She graduated from Louisiana Tech University in 1973 with a business degree. Her life and career were marked by an exceptional sense of integrity, strength, and courage rooted in an abiding faith in God and a deep love for family.
A private interment will take place at County Line Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. A private family remembrance and life celebration will be Aug. 26 at The Atlantean in Atlanta.

AD Taylor, 86, of Gilmer, formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, June 15, 2017, following a sudden illness.
He was born Aug. 1, 1930, at the family farm in Cass County, the ninth of 10 children to Andy Dixon Taylor and Laura Lee Carter Taylor. He attended Hughes Springs schools before going to Sam Houston State University, where he earned his first degree in agriculture.
He was an educator with Mt. Pleasant Independent School District for nearly 30 years. A teacher at heart, he felt the calling to be an administrator, so while working full-time to support his family. He earned a Master’s Degree in education administration. As a teacher, coach and administrator, he worked with students of all ages and he loved every single one. He was serving as principal of Vivian Fowler Elementary, when he retired. He was active in school district activities and was the voice of Tiger football for about 20 years.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served as a Bishop. He especially loved being a home teacher. He was also proud to be a veteran, serving as a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
He married the love of his life, Jean Chevalier, Nov. 23, 1955. The Taylors moved to Mt. Pleasant in 1960, and remained there until moving to Gilmer in 2016. He loved his family and was devoted to his immediate and extended family.
In addition to his wife, Jean he is survived by two children, Jan Taylor of Fort Worth and Randy Taylor and wife Teri of Klamath Falls, Ore.; one brother, Wesley Taylor  and wife Doretta of Nacogdoches; one brother-in-law, Azell Chevalier and wife Patricia of Gilmer; one sister-in-law, Thurza Blackshear of Carriere, Miss.; grandchildren, Erica Jackman and husband Tom of Salem, Ore., Kara Taylor of Denver, Colo,, Chase Taylor and wife Makay of Eagle Mountain, Utah, Carly Taylor of Salt Lake City, Utah, Kelly Zabriskie and husband Jordan, also of Sandy; and Shania Leeper-Blue of Klamath Falls; three great-grandchildren: Harper, Jonah and August Jackman of Salem, Oregon; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints with Bishop Peter Sullivan presiding. Interment followed at Kelsey Cemetery under the direction of McWhorter Funeral Home.

Buddy Joe Coats, 74, of Queen City, died Thursday, July 27, 2017, at Golden Villa Nursing Home in Atlanta.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 5, at Cross Creek Cowboy Church in Smyrna. He will be cremated under the direction of Queen City Funeral Home.

Shane Terrell, 38, of Lone Star, died Sunday, July 23, 2017.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 29, at Church on the Rock in Daingerfield. Interment was under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home of Hughes Springs.

Art "Butch" Bernardini, 78, of Lone Star, died Wednesday, July 19, 2017.
Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday 26, at Reeder-Davis Chapel in Hughes Springs under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home.
