Bonnie Roberts McLeod, of McLeod, Texas, departed this life on July 19, 2020, after a long and courageous fight with cancer.

She was born on August 23, 1937 in Cass County, Texas to her parents, A.I. and Azelle Chamblee Roberts.

She is survived by her loving husband of sixty four years, Jon McLeod; two sons and daughters in law, Bruce and Roz McLeod of Burleson, Texas, and Tracy and Rhonda McLeod of Spring, Texas; three grandchildren, Michael McLeod and Christina McLeod of Burleson, Texas and Kaylee McLeod of Spring, Texas; special niece and nephew, Margaret Thomas and Phil Thomas of Queen City, Texas.

Preceding Bonnie in death are parents, A. J. and Azelle Roberts; three brothers, Harold Roberts, Wayne Roberts and Bobby Roberts.

Bonnie graduated from McLeod High School in 1955 where she met her future husband.

After graduating she moved to Dallas to begin her long career in the insurance field and landed her first job at Fidelity Union Life.

Subsequently she became executive secretary to the CEO. She worked at several insurance companies through the years after moving back home to Cass County.

Until her health made it impossible, Bonnie was a faithful member of Good Exchange Baptist Church, McLeod, Texas.

She loved her family dearly. A strong woman, she seemed to not be afraid or intimidated by anyone or anything.

She could be a fierce Mama Bear when it came to protecting her sons. Together, Bonnie and Jon instilled in their sons strong values that have served them well. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.

A celebration of her life will be held, 10 am, Thursday, July 23, 2020, in the Hanner Funeral Chapel, with Bro. Kent Lenard officiating.

Visitation will be from 6 pm to 8 pm, Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Hanner Funeral Service.

Interment will be in Huffines Cemetery.

Social distancing will be observed and the family request that masks be worn.
