Union Chapel United Methodist Church would like to remind everyone our Sunday worship services begin at 8:30 a.m. with Pastor Vera Moffitt serving her second year with our congregation. Everyone is welcome. Sunday School begins at 8 a.m. We may be a small church in numbers, but we are mighty in strength carrying out God’s work. Come visit and join in our fellowship by turning north onto FM 2065 off Texas State Highway 77, go 1.7 miles to the church. You can also follow us on Facebook.

Edwards speaks at meeting

The Journal-Sun’s own Raydeen Edwards gave a very informative speech to the Cass County Genealogical Society last week. His program was titled “Forty Acres and a Mule”. Forty Acres and a Mule refers to a failed promise of land redistribution to formerly enslaved people after the Civil War. Jerry Fitts, President of Cass County Retired School Employees Association domiciled in Linden, attended the District Forum at ESC Region 8 in Pittsburg on Oct. 30. Beverly Young designed and provided the pumpkin bean bag toss display. Chapter members provided the candy prizes.
