Suffering….Really??
Why suffering? Why heartache, pain, sickness, disease, death!

Authors Note: In 1974 my mother, Jean Howe Stow, wrote an article for the January issue of Frontier Times magazine titled “Cass County Poor Farm.” In researching Mockingbird Hill Cemetery, I found her article cited as the main source of information on each website I visited. Her notes and published article, along with information found in the files of the Texas State Historical Association, were used as reference for this story.
Here in Cass County the name “Reece” is synonymous with deliciousness. For many decades, JoAnn was a favorite caterer for reunions, weddings, showers and luncheons. Her son Keith has taken up the family business with Reece Street Kitchen and Catering, now open in Atlanta.
There is a lot to be proud of in the area of Cass County. The people are friendly, the businesses growing, and the events held throughout the year are ones to be remembered. This is why the Journal will be featuring a new section in the paper called Hometown Proud. This new section is meant to showcase people, events, and businesses that really make the area of Cass County special and unique.
