BROOKS JR. CAPTURED

Charles Brooks, Jr., originally of Atlanta, TX, and was currently residing in Dallas, TX, was on the run from authorities after cutting his ankle monitor. Brooks was arrested on April 22, 2021, for beating two-year-old Blake Sampson “within inches of his life and left unresponsive” while alone with Brooks in his Dallas home. Brooks has since been captured and sent back to jail on March 12, 2022, according to jail records. A relative of the child, Gary Sampson, reported on social media that “Brooks was picked up in a bar in Sherman.”

TWC dedicates $15 million to address industry labor shortages

The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) this week announced $15 million in funding will be allocated to the development of a statewide registered apprenticeship initiative for the healthcare industry to increase the number of career pathway opportunities for registered nurses (RN) and healthcare professionals in the state. This Statewide Healthcare Registered Apprenticeship Initiative will be designed to offer employers an innovative approach to hiring and training future nurses and healthcare staff by expanding opportunities for students who wish to pursue career pathways to RN certification and other healthcare fields.
