The annual Steven Smith Cruise Night, held Saturday, June 12, undeniably honored the memory of a great and wonderful man. Smith was not only a drag boat owner and driver, but also a drag car owner and driver and enjoyed classic cars as well.
The long-discussed Marvin Nichols Reservoir is gaining momentum. The project, proposed on the main stem of the Sulphur River in Red River and Titus Counties, would flood more than 66,000 acres of heritage farmland, hardwood forest and wetlands in Northeast Texas to pipe water to the DFW Metroplex.
Several people came out for the Linden Block Party June 12. Various vendors were set up and numerous shops were open on the square. A live country band played on the courthouse steps.
Beginning June 1 through July 8, Atlanta ISD will be offering free summer meals to children up to 18 years old at Atlanta Middle School. Meals will be served Monday through Thursday with breakfast being served between 7:45 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. and lunch being served between 10:30 a.m. and noon.
Kendall Wells is the 2021 Valedictorian for Linden-Kildare High School with a weighted GPA of 103.6 and unweighted GPA of 4.0.
