Cass included in the Governor’s Proclamation Amendment

On June 5, Cass County Judge Travis Ransom issued a disaster declaration for Cass County, Texas after it “suffered and continues to suffer widespread severe damage and loss of property resulting from severe weather beginning on the 8th day of May 2024 and continuing to the present which produced heavy rain, damaging winds, hail, and straight-line winds/tornadic activity damaging numerous public and private structures and placing thousands of residents without electricity for multiple days.” At the time of the last article, Cass County was not on the list of the Texas Governor’s emergency proclamation. Cass is now on the list.

Native Plant Society meeting

The Caddo Wildflower Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas meets at 6:30 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Mary Dougherty Senior Citizens Center, 507 S. Kaufman St., Linden. Meetings are open to the public and start with a potluck before ending with a native plants/flowers raffle.

Rebecca Narramore of Linden holds one of her two art gourds which were juried into the 36th Annual TRAHC Adult Art Exhibition. Gourds, which may never be thought of as beautiful, can appear more than elegant under the hand of a skilled and imaginative artist such as this one from Rebecca Narramore.
