SummerFest organizers are planning to help Atlanta and Cass County celebrate the Fourth of July with a slate of fun activities capped by a fireworks display on July 3.
SummerFest and Fireworks 2017 will get underway at 5:30 p.m. at 606 S. Louise Street in Atlanta.
The evening will feature food and retail vendors, as well as live music from Styrofoam Submarine, Atlanta native Matt Boyd’s band. The music is planned for 6:30-9:30 p.m. approximately.
“Tons of different people will be there,” Aaron Whitehead, Atlanta Chamber of Commerce communications director, said of the vendor displays that are planned.
A fundraising effort to cover the approximately $10,000 cost of the evening’s fireworks display has been ongoing for a number of weeks, and donations are still being accepted.
The chamber is also selling $5 raffle tickets for a chance to win a large bundle of fireworks and a bucket containing a range of prize items. The raffle winner will be drawn at SummerFest.
Fireworks will begin when it gets dark, at approximately 9:15 p.m., according to chamber officials. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs.
“It’s a local option to celebrate Independence Day,” Chamber President Miranda Johnson said. “It’s clean family fun with an awesome fireworks show.”
