Residents of Northeast Texas

Do you have flooding or drainage problems in your jurisdiction?

Texas now has a State Flood Plan, and a Flood Infrastructure Financing program administered by the Texas Water Development Board, which authorizes several hundred million dollars for lower interest loans and grants to assist cities, counties, and other entities to document, assess, plan for, and resolve flooding issues.

In order to apply for this funding, you must have a project which is listed in the State Flood Plan.

The State Flood Plan is compiled from projects recommended in 15 separate Regional Flood Plans.

We are sending this correspondence to entities in flood planning Region 2, which includes all or part of the following counties located in the Red, Sulphur, or Cypress Basins: Bowie Fannin Morris Marion Red River Delta Cass Harrison (northern) Lamar Franklin Hunt (NE corner) Wood (NE corner) Grayson (Northern) Titus Camp Gregg (NE corner) Cooke (NE corner) Hopkins (northern) Upshur (northern) Panola (NE portion) Region 2 is beginning a 5- year update to our regional plan, with two preplanning meetings: September 5, 2024 at 2:00pm at SBDC Building, 105 North Riddle, Mount Pleasant, TX.

October 3, 2024 at 2:00pm at Bois d’Arc Lake Operations Center, 4989 FM 897, Dodd City, TX.

At these meetings, and continuously throughout the planning process, we are requesting your input as to projects that you would like to have included in the plan.

This is a forward-looking process. Projects need not be “shovel ready”, and you should anticipate several years lead time before fruition.

However, there is no cost to you to submit a project, and no binding commitment to proceed with the project until you receive and accept a funding offer.

If you will provide a general vicinity and description of your need, and appropriate contact information, our technical consultants will make contact to flesh out the details.

Eligible projects can include construction, feasibility studies and preliminary engineering, obtaining regulatory approvals, nature-based solutions, hydraulic and hydrologic studies, educational programs, warning systems, and a broad array of other type projects to manage/reduce flood risk and improve resiliency.

Join us, either in person or by Zoom, to learn more about this planning process or to potentially bring your project to reality. Visit www.texasfloodregion2. org for more information.
