Atlanta Lions Club remembers Mayor Keith Crow

Scholarship to be named in late mayor's honor
"He could always be counted on to make new members feel welcome, offer a warm handshake to the long-lost lions returning after an extended time away, and never shied away from supporting community efforts to help the needy, recognize outstanding people, and promote our community."

Atlanta Lions Club members this week remembered one of their own, Atlanta Mayor Keith Crow, who passed away this past Saturday, July 22. Below is a letter from the club:

Keith Crow, 61, of Atlanta, Texas went to be with the Lord Saturday, July 22, leaving a Texas-sized hole in our little town. Keith served as the Mayor of Atlanta, Texas for the past 13 years and was a member of the Atlanta Lions Club for over 38 years. Always smiling, and the first to volunteer, he was a pillar in the Atlanta community.

Keith was the owner of Keith Crow Realty and a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Atlanta.

Keith served as Atlanta Lions Club's Tail Twister for two separate terms and was the Lions Club Song Leader. He could always be counted on to make new members feel welcome, offer a warm handshake to the long-lost lions returning after an extended time away, and never shied away from supporting community efforts to help the needy, recognize outstanding people, and promote our community.

He sold raffle tickets, opened his own checkbook countless times, organized concession stand operations at track meets, baseball tournaments and the Forest Festival. He embodied the Lions Club motto, "We Serve."

His servant leadership guided many non-profit boards through the years. He was an active member of the Atlanta Area Chamber of Commerce and served on steering committees and boards throughout the community.

Keith was a champion for students and athletes in the Atlanta area as well. He believed in offering a hand up to reward hard work and talent.

A scholarship will be named in his honor to be awarded to a graduating Atlanta High School senior.
