Where is It?

Where is It?

Linden’s 1934 water tower was in the news some months ago for getting colored lights and a new paint job. But in 1990, the tower also made the news as a foil to show off Goodyear’s blimp as it made a surprise appearance high up in the skies on a Saturday morning during the Wildflower Trails of Texas celebration. This photo appeared in the Cass County Sun newspaper May 2, 1990. Today, it’s a pleasant way to start off the new year. Look up, don’t be surprised at what you see. Just go to the community festival and have a good time. Oh, by the way, the Goodyear airship is still in use. This past year the Goodrich Tire & Rubber Company celebrated the blimp’s 100th anniversary. A secret of this historic picture is that the blip was especially invited and came on purpose to celebrate the community’s Wild Flower Trails Festival.

(Editor’s note: A Good Samaritan story would be a fine way to start the new year. The late Donald Parker of Atlanta, who died just this past week at age 78, had one. It appeared in the Jan. 9, 2019, edition of the Cass County Life newspaper. Here it is as a reminder of what makes a good year.)
