Food drive a big success

The food was fresh and ready to be handed out to those in need on Saturday, July 11 in the parking lot of the old Milstep building located at 300 S. Main St. The USDA Farmers to Families Food Box program provided a truckload full of fresh produce and dry goods, boxed and ready to be handed out. Flo Stevenson, President of the Fairview Reunion Corporation and primary event organizer said, “This event would not have been possible without the support of volunteers from CSNT, Fairview, Linden Together, City of Linden, Linden United, LEDC, USDA, and others. Recipients were from all over the county.”

Congratulations to Carrel and Dean Byrum on celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary! The couple have four children, seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. “You’ve been an example to us all,” from your loving family.

Mayor presents scholarships

Mayor Travis Ransom presents Ravyn Solis (top photo) and Chloe Sherman (bottom) with a $750 scholarship awarded each year by the local Atlanta Lions Club to a few graduates. Solis plans to attend Stephen F. Austin University and study biology to become an ER doctor. Sherman plans to attend the University of Central Arkansas in the fall.
