VETERAN’S DAY CELEBRATION 2021

The second annual Veteran’s Day Celebration was held last Thursday evening at the Veteran’s Plaza in downtown Atlanta. The master of ceremonies was Kate Stow of the Cass County Citizens Journal-Sun, which sponsors the event. Other sponsors this year were J.E. Manning American Legion Post 258, VFW Post 5870, Mission 22, The Gary Sinise Foundation and Heritage Home Health.

The Texarkana Community Ballet will present four performances of the beloved Nutcracker Ballet on December 3, 4, and 5 at the historic Perot Theatre in downtown Texarkana. This marks the 30th Anniversary of productions of the Nutcracker by Texarkana Community Ballet.

Brooks, Jr. set to be in court this week

Brooks, Jr. set to be in court this week

Charles Edwin Brooks, Jr., 29, of Atlanta, is set to appear in court this week, November 10, Brooks was taken into custody Monday, May 3, at 3:38 p.m. by Dallas County Sheriffs and charged with Injury to Child/Elderly/Disabled with Intent to cause Severe Bodily Injury and Serious Mental Deficiency or Impairment. This is a first-degree felony under Texas Penal Code 22.04, punishable by a maximum sentence of 99 years or life in prison and/ or a maximum fine of $10,000. According to the court, his lawyer for Brooks will meet with the prosecutor on his behalf.
