Atlanta State Park to host Night Hike
There is much to see and discover at Atlanta State Park during the day, but from 9 to 10 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7, the park will explore “nature’s night shift” while on a Night Hike.
During the hike, the group will look and listen for animals that only venture out in the darkness of night, and discuss and discover how these nocturnal animals survive and thrive at night.
This is an easy one-mile hike which includes moderate changes in elevation. It is recommended for those attending to wear long pants and close-toed shoes and bring water and a flashlight.
The hike is weather dependent and may be canceled in the event of rain or high winds.
There is no fee for attending, though park entrance fees are required for admittance. Entrance fees can be paid at Park Headquarters and are $3 per person over the age of 13 and children 12 and under are free.
