The ugly pitcher, and other holiday traditions

When I was young, holidays consisted of family, food, and ruining my “girlie-girl” dress playing football with the boy cousins. Thanksgiving belonged to my dad’s side – which was huge – and centered around Granny’s turkey and dressing. And we all know that no dressing is as good as OUR Granny’s. In fact, I’ve never tasted dressing that good since.

Why John?

Luke1:12-13 - And when Zachariah saw him, (the angel Gabriel) he was troubled, and fear fell upon him. But the angel said unto him, fear not, Zachariah for thy prayer is heard, and thy wife Elizabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John. 15. For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord and shall drink neither Wine nor strong drink, and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost even from his mother’s womb. And many of the children of Israel shall he turn to the Lord their God and he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just (righteous), to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.
