City Administrator Update

Linden is having a great summer!  The temps are up but so is the Linden Pride.  We have officially kicked off the fundraising campaign for “Let Linden Shine” the lighting of our historic 1934 water tower.  Donations can be made on the Linden Heritage Foundation website http://lindenheritage.org/donations-2/ to donate and look at the program.  We are so sure we have the spirit and pride in Linden to make this happen we are planning the celebration gala for 24 August at Music City Texas.  I would like to remind everyone that the Linden 2025 planning board (large eclectic group) felt the most important need in Linden was unity.  We need to bring the community back together and a great project like this, with lasting impact, is something all can get behind and we will all see the lasting effect.  Speaking of Linden’s Plan 2025 there will be an update of the plan completed in 2020 that will be called Linden 2030.  This will give us a target 10 years out and goals as we head there.
The Texas General Land Office Grant to repair the drainage and bridges on Kaufman Street and Center Hill Street is moving forward.  Apart of this grant may also provide repairs to parts of the park that have been damaged by stormwater, this may include the playground, a retention pond, volleyball courts and the rock walls along the drainage in the lower park.  This will be a $2,000,000 project and we will have public meetings to collect the community input.  Meetings will be advertised here in the paper and on lindentexas.org.
Don’t forget the heavy cleanup days on Friday 19 July and Saturday 20 July.  We will have a couple of roll-off dumpsters in the City Yard at 108 West Street and will allow people to bring heavier trash in and place it in the roll-off.  You will need to show you are a Linden resident with your water bill and drivers license.  No tires, paint, dead animals or chemicals will be allowed.  Make a point to let anyone know that has heavy trash items we are providing this free service for Linden residents only.  Don’t mess with Linden, get rid of that old junk!
Stray dogs are on the rise.  We are ticketing people who let their dogs run.  Stray dogs are everyone’s problem and loose running dogs make Linden a non-pet friendly city.  Stray or loose dogs pose a health and safety risk and we are going to have to start ticketing owners.  We are working on solutions for stray dogs.
Linden is truly a great place to live and get ready for the changes that are headed our way.  LET LINDEN SHINE!
