Lady Rabbs track wins Gilmer meet

Atlanta’s girls’ track program competed in the Buckeye Relays on Mar. 2, in Gilmer and won the meet with 112 points.

Pine Tree was second with 100 points, Gilmer third, Grace Community fourth, Henderson fifth, Liberty-Eylau sixth, Kilgore seventh and Spring Hill eighth.

In the 100m dash JD Larry placed first with a time of 12.66 and teammate Makaylin King placed sixth at 13.24, in the 200m dash Shamijala Gillam placed second at 27.22 and King placed fifth at 27.55, in the 400m run Makayla Martin placed fourth at 1:05.59, in the 100m hurdles Elliana Edwards placed sixth at 18.22 and in the 300m hurdles Amelia Jones placed third at 51.12 and Jaliyah Brown placed fifth at 53.28.

In the 800m run Kaylon “KP” Partain placed first overall at 2:28.03, in the 1600m run Lucy Ransom placed fourth at 5:49.86 and in the 3200m run Ransom placed fourth at 12:46.42.

The relay teams did not disappoint as all three wrapped up first place finishes.

The 4x100m relay team of Toya Hurd, King, Gillam and Larry placed first at 49.71, the 4x200m relay team of Markavia Garner, Hurd, Gillam and Larry placed first at 1:46.89 and the 4x4 team of KP, AnneMarie Hanner, Garner and Hurd placed first at 4:11.90.
