Track News
Atlanta’s track program turned on the jets at the 13-3A and 14-3A Area Track Meet on Apr. 20.
The Runnin’ Rabbs placed first overall with a point total of 113, Mineola was second with 103, Mount Vernon had 76, Pewitt 56, Quitman 47, Winnsboro 44, Harmony 40, Redwater 34, DeKalb 28, Hooks 22, Winona 21, Queen City 18, Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill 10 and New Boston 8.
The Lady Rabbs missed winning it all by just two points. Mineola took first with 89 points, Atlanta and Quitman tied for second with 88, Pewitt was fourth with 73, Harmony had 52, Queen City 48, Winnsboro 47, New Boston 34, Redwater 30, Mount Vernon 29, DeKalb 26, Hooks 8 and Chapel Hill 8.
Varsity Boys
Ahmani Jackson placed fourth in the 100m dash at 11.66, Markeylin Batton placed second in the 200m dash at 23.38, Stacy Darty placed third in the 110m hurdles at 17.04 and second in the 300m hurdles at 40.87 and Matthew Morin placed fourth in the 800m run at 2:04.74, fifth in the 1600m run at 5:00.26 and fourth in the 3200m run at 10:51.34.
As expected the Runnin’ Rabbs swept the relays.
The 4x100m relay team of Isaiah Chandler, Zakyus Jackson, Batton and JaBranden Wells placed first at 42.14, the 4x200m relay team of Chandler, Jackson, Wells and Matthew Cauley placed first at 1:29.68 and the 4x400m relay team of Chandler, Wells, Cauley and Eli Riojas placed first at 3:23.65.
In triple jump Darty placed first with a leap of 44 feet, 10 1/2 inches, in long jump Markavion Owens placed fifth at 20 feet, 11 1/2 inches, in shot Caden Walker placed fifth with a toss of 42 feet, 8 inches and in pole vault Adrian Kennington placed fifth at 12 feet even and Chris Swanson placed sixth at 11 feet even.
Varsity Girls
In the 400m dash McKenzie Martin placed fourth at 1:05.85, in the 300m hurdles Kym Sheppard placed sixth at 54.76, in the 800m run Kaylon Partain placed second at 2:28.74 and AnnMarie Hanner placed fifth at 2:40.84, in the 1600m run Aurelia Giesler placed fourth at 6:03.24 and Emma Allen placed sixth at 6:26.41 and in the 3200m run Giesler placed third at 13:15.84 and Allen placed sixth at 14:23.34.
The 4x100m relay team of Carlajah Adger, Caitlynn Bailey, Makaylin King and Toya Hurd placed second at 50.43, the 4x200m relay team of Adger, King, Hurd and Sheppard placed second at 1:47.35 and the 4x400m relay team of Partain, King, Hurd and Makayla Martin placed second at 4:18.12.
In high jump Bailey placed first with a mark of 5 feet, 4 inches and in triple jump Adger placed fifth at 34 feet, 6 inches and Sheppard placed sixth at 34 feet, 4 inches.
The Regional Meet is scheduled for Apr. 29-30, at Whitehouse High School.
