Track
Atlanta’s high school track program competed in the 47th running of the Watty Meyers Relays hosted by Texas High School on Mar. 1.
Varsity Boys
The Runnin’ Rabbs placed fourth overall behind schools 2-3 times its size.
In the 100m dash Chase Kindred and Jaden Riley placed 5-6 with times of 11.43 and 11.45 respectively; in the 200m dash Markeylin Batton placed first at 22.34 and Marshawn Woodberry placed sixth at 23.87; in the 400m dash Kindred placed fifth at 53.77; in the 110m hurdles Sye Stroman placed fifth at 15.50; in the 300m hurdles Stroman placed fifth at 42.09; in the 800m run Andrew Allen placed sixth at 2:13.65; in the 1600m run Chris Swanson placed third at 5:01.57 and in the 3200m run Swanson placed third at 10:34.10 and Ethan Scott placed fifth at 10:58.35.
The 4x100m relay team of Batton, Kayden Linwood, Cooper Swanson and Woodberry placed second at 43.06; the 4x200m relay team of the same lineup placed third at 1:31.60 and the 4x400m relay team of Kindred, Linwood, Cooper Swanson and Marquayvious Richardson placed fourth at 3:37.34.
Marquavion Owens placed first at 21 feet, 1 inch in long jump and first at 40 feet, 10 1/2 inches in triple jump; in high jump Aidan Boston placed third at 6 feet even and in Chris Swanson placed third in pole vault at 10 feet even.
Varsity Girls
The Lady Runnin’ Rabbs placed third overall.
In the 100m dash Chantoya Hurd placed first at 12.14 and JD Larry placed fourth at 12.43; Larry placed third in the 200m dash at 26.36; Hurd placed fourth in the 400m dash at 1:05.59; Elliana Edwards placed fourth in the 100m hurdles at 17.87 and Amelia Jones placed sixth at 18.09; in the 300m hurdles Jones placed second at 51.41 and Edwards placed fourth at 52.41; in the 800m run Lucy Ransom placed fourth at 2:36.16; in the 1600m run Aurelia Geisler placed fourth at 5:58.78 and Ransom placed sixth at 6:00.06 and in the 3200m run Ransom placed second at 12:51.75 and Geisler placed sixth at 13:02.75.
The 4x100m relay team of Shamijala Gillam, Sylar Spencer, AnneMarie Hanner and Markavia Garner placed fourth at 50.30; the 4x200m relay team of the same lineup placed second at 1:47.39 and the 4x400m relay team of the same lineup placed third at 4:15.17.
In long jump Hanner placed fifth with a mark of 14 feet, 9 inches; in triple jump Carlajah Adger placed sixth at 31 feet, 10 inches; in high jump Caitlynn Bailey placed third at 5 feet even; in discus Cha’Nya Clark placed fifth with a toss of 80 feet, 10 inches and in shot Larry placed fourth with a heave of 30 feet, 8 1/2 inches.
JV Boys
The JV boys’ team placed third overall.
In the 100m dash Bralyn Rowe placed first at 11.18; in the 400m dash Ian Bard placed sixth at 57.86; in the 800m run Bard placed first at 2:13.08; in the 1600m run Bard placed first at 5:13.85 and Campbell Autrey placed second at 5:14.42 and in the 3200m run Autrey placed first at 11:15.84.
The 4x100m relay team of Jamarion Austin, Roew, Derrick Talton and Omariea Kinney placed fourth at 45.84; the 4x200m relay team of Austin, Cobi Wells, Kason Byrd and Kinney placed fourth at 1:43.14 and the 4x400m relay team of Wells, Byrd, Landon Thomas and Talton finished fourth at 3:57.46.
In high jump Rowe placed fourth at 5 feet, 4 inches; in discus Tevin Thursby placed first at 103 feet, 1/2 inch and Kameron Williams placed fourth at 95 feet, 1/2 inch and in shot Williams placed second at 40 feet, 1 1/2 inches and Thursby placed fourth at 34 feet, 11 1/2 inches.
JV Girls
Atlanta’s JV girls’ squad was just two points from finishing second overall.
In the 100m dash Serenity Duckett placed fourth at 13.65 and Zion Bickham placed fifth at 13.84; in the 200m dash Aysia Heard placed first at 26.84, Breonna Phelps placed fourth at 28.44 and Ke’Mauri Johnson placed fifth at 28.46; in the 400m dash Duckett placed third at 1:07.39, Gracie McWilliams placed fifth at 1:08.31 and Abby Morales placed sixth at 1:08.49; in the 100m hurdles Ryleigh Thompson placed first at 17.33, Chloe Puckett placed fourth at 19.29 and Brooklyn Thompson placed sixth at 20.34; in the 300m hurdles R. Thompson placed second at 54.88 and Puckett placed sixth at 58.54; in the 800m run Ella Stewart placed fifth at 2:48.00 and Addie Geisler placed sixth at 2:56.78 and in the 1600m run Stewart placed first at 6:07.36 and Geisler placed fifth at 6:54.81.
The 4x100m relay team of Johnson, Phelps, Jaliyah Gordon and McWiliams placed second at 53.27; the 4x200m relay team of Johnson, Phelps, Heard and Gordon placed first at 1:50.94 and the 4x400m relay team of Morales, Heard, Gordon and McWilliams placed first at 4:32.30.
In long jump McWilliams placed fifth at 13 feet, 6 inches; in triple jump McWilliams placed sixth at 28 feet, 2 inches; in shot Dea’Jah Alejandro-Ortiz placed third at 26 feet, 2 1/2 inches and in discus Ryeigh Paige placed first at 72 feet, 6 inches and Alejandro-Ortiz placed second at 71 feet, 4 inches.
McLeod
McLeod’s girls’ track team competed in the Dee Mackey Relays hosted by Union Grove ISD on Mar. 1.
In the 100m hurdles Riley Parker placed fifth at 20.13; in the 200m dash Lila McKnight placed sixth at 28.59 and in the 400m dash McKnight placed fourth at 1:06.57.
Bloomburg, Linden-Kildare and Queen City high school track and field members competed at the Doug Sibley Relays hosted by Paul Pewitt ISD on Mar. 1.
Bloomburg
Jacee Glasgow placed second at 17.47 in the 100m hurdles and Cassie Glasgow placed third in long jump at 14 feet, 9 1/2 inches and fourth in triple jump at 31 feet, 1 1/2 inches.
Linden-Kildare
L-K’s varsity girls’ track squad placed third overall.
Summer Gibson placed second at 28.25; in the 300m hurdles Magee Winters placed fourth at 54.88 and Jacee Quaid placed sixth at 56.31; in discus Rylee Burns finished sixth with a toss of 85 feet, 10 1/2 inches; in long jump Jamiah Birmingham placed first at 15 feet, 10 1/4 inches and in triple jump Birmingham placed first at 35 feet, 3 3/4 inches and Alexis Armstrong placed second at 32 feet, and a 1/2 inch.
Queen City Varsity Boys
Queen City’s varsity boys’ team placed third overall.
Trey Jones placed sixth in the 100m dash at 12.09; Xavier Allison placed fourth in the 800m run at 2:20.69 and in the 300m hurdles Bryce Belk placed sixth at 48.02.
The 4x100m relay team of Daketrick Smith, Delvon Federick, DJ Henson and Nickolas Herring placed first at 44.26; the 4x200m relay team of the same lineup placed second at 1:35.63 and the 4x400m relay team of Trevonne Horsley, Federick, Henson and Herring placed fourth at 3:49.66.
In long jump Jones placed second at 20 feet, 8 3/4 inches; in triple jump Henson placed first at 41 feet, 7 inches, Federick placed fifth at 39 feet, 2 3/4 inches and Smith placed sixth at 36 feet, 5 3/4 inches; in high jump Jones and Belk placed 2-3 at 5 feet, 10 inches apiece; David Jackson placed third in shot with a toss of 40 feet, 4 inches and in discus Levi Byrum placed third at 127 feet, 10 1/2 inches.
Varsity Girls
Jamecia Cook placed sixth at 1:10.33 in the 400m dash; Tasia Andrews placed fifth in the 3200m run at 15:05.06; in shot put Gracie Alexander placed sixth at 28 feet, 5 inches; in discus Alexander placed second at 104 feet, 8 inches; in high jump Mallory Hamilton placed fourth at 4 feet, 6 inches and in pole vault Reagan Hargrave was third with a mark of 7 feet, 6 inches, Kalin Griffin was fourth at 7 feet even and Ava Norton was fifth at 6 feet, 6 inches.
JV Boys
The young Bulldogs were just two points from second place overall.
In the 100m dash Charlie Campbell-Kirkland placed first at 11.75; in the 200m dash Jeremiah Jones placed first at 24.31; in the 100m hurdles Chris Brown placed fifth at 21.58; in the 1600m run Dion Metzger placed fifth at 5:58.28 and Cameron Clarke placed sixth at 5:58.35 and in the 3200m run Metzger placed fourth at 12:20.64.
The 4x100m relay team of Derell Sewell, Trenton Belk, Campbell-Kirkland and TJ Guest placd second at 47.71; the 4x200m relay team of the same lineup placed fourth at 1:41.53 and the 4x400m relay team of Sewell, Belk, Guest and James Gladden placed fifth at 4:08.09.
In the shot put event Alex Venable placed second with a toss of 35 feet, 4 1/2 inches; in discus Koredell Federick placed first at 103 feet, 4 1/2 inches; in pole vault Gladden placed third at 8 feet and in triple jump Tavon Andrews, Sewell and Belk placed 1-2-3 with marks of 39 feet, 1 1/2 inches, 37 feet, 6 inches and 35 feet, 11 3/4 inches respectively.
