On Dec. 11, McLeod’s junior high teams battled and swept Ore City.

The seventh-grade girls’ team won in fine fashion 26-4 as Anna Dempsey scorched the nets for 11 points.

The eighth-grade girls’ team won 15-3 behind Ariel Richardson’s five points.

McLeod’s seventh-grade boys’ squad won 16-7 with Damien Vick posting 11 points, and the eighthgrade team rolled 30-17 with Kason Tyson putting up 11 points.

On Dec. 12, the Longhorns ran its season record to a spotless 17-0 after beating New Boston 61-51.

McLeod jumped out to a commanding 22-8 lead after the first quarter of play and had a 41-20 lead at the half.

New Boston made some adjustments and outscored the ’Horns 16-5 in the third frame to pull within 46-36. The final quarter was a 15-15 tie which gave the Longhorns a 10-point victory.

Kannon Dempsey posted a double-double with 26 points and 11 boards, Grayson Owens added 10 points, Jaxon Smith had nine and Colton Spence poured in eight points.

The JV team was in another nail biter as the Longhorns lost to the Lions 39-37. Jacob Foster put up 15 points for McLeod.

On Dec. 12, the Lady Longhorns fell to James Bowie 45-25.

McLeod had a 9-7 lead after the first frame but an 18-1 run by the Lady Bucs changed the direction of the game.

Kenslee Cross had 15 points, Madison Blair four, Gracey Vick three and Lila McKnight two. On Dec. 15, McLeod’s boys’ basketball squad dispatched Maud 40-21 and ran its record to 19-0 in the process.

The closest the Cardinals would get to taking a solid lead in the game was when the score was 0-0.

McLeod had a 15-2 lead at halftime and shut the door on the contest with a 25-19 run in the second half.

Colton Spence had 14 points, Kannon Dempsey added six points with 15 rebounds, Jaxon Smith had six points, Jase Deaton posted six points, Grayson Owens and Austin McGray each had three points with five rebounds and Kason Cook had two points with four boards.

The JV ’Horns smoked the birds 45-15 with Braden Bascombe putting up a game-high 23 points.
