One hundred students and staff members at McLeod ISD received EKGs through the Brandon Goyne Foundation last week. Debbie and Scott Goyne actually traveled and administered the very affordable EKGs in honor of their son’s memory.

Brandon had a sudden Cardiac Arrest as a result of an undiagnosed heart condition in 2013 and although CPR and an AED were used, he did not survive. He was 20 years old.

He had all required athletic physicals yet no heart condition was ever detected. He never had any symptoms. Heart issues can be found but heart testing is not required with athletic physicals.

The mission and goal of the Brandon Goyne Foundation is to offer affordable heart testing for anyone in communities and schools both students and adults.

Anyone 10 years old and up can be tested with mobile heart testing including EKG which takes around five minutes.
