Rabbs fall to New Boston
Atlanta hosted New Boston last Friday night for another district match.
The Rabbs battled but the Lions beat Atlanta for the first time since 2009 with a 41-12 win.
Atlanta’s first score came at the 9:02 mark as La’Randion Dowden bolted in from a yard out. The point after was no good but Atlanta was up 6-0.
New Boston scored two minutes later on an 11-yard run and went up 7-6 with the PAT. In the second frame New Boston put together an impressive drive as they marched the length of the field for a score.
The 99-yard drive ended with an 8-yard run. The PAT set the score at 14-6 with 8:12 left in the first quarter. New Boston scored again with nine seconds left in the half. The PAT made the score 21-6 going into halftime.
In the third quarter, the Lions scored at the 8:36 mark but missed the PAT which made the score 27-6. In the final frame, Atlanta put together its own impressive drive as quarterback Jack Plunk hit Ahmani Jackson for a 75-yard TD.
The point after was no good but the Rabbs were within 27-12 with 9:43 left in the contest.
A comeback bid was squashed as the Lions scored twice more.
The Rabbits have a BYE week this Friday night and will finish its district schedule at Jefferson on Nov. 5, with kickoff slated for 7:30 p.m.
