Rabbs claim bi-district championship
Atlanta met up with Winnsboro last week in the first round of the baseball playoffs.
The Rabbits put up runs early in both contests and claimed a bi-district title after dispatching the Raiders in a 2-game set.
Atlanta 10, Winnsboro 5
In the first game played May 6, Atlanta took a 4-2 lead into the fourth inning.
The Rabbs plated six more runs over the course of three innings which boosted the score to 10-2.
Winnsboro plated three runs in the final frame but Atlanta was not allowing a comeback and took game one by a score of 10-5.
Randall Mason scattered eight hits over seven innings and struck out seven batters.
Cooper McClure was 2-for-3 from the dish with three RBIs, Jackson Warren hit an RBI double, Kale Carpenter added an RBI and both Dex Ebarb and Brennan Gaston hit singles in the contest.
Atlanta 8, Winnsboro 1
Game two took place May 7, and was much like game one with the Rabbs scoring early.
Atlanta plated three runs in the second inning and had a 4-1 lead going into the sixth.
The Rabbs added four insurance runs in the seventh and ended up winning the game 8-1.
Kelby Smith gave up three hits over seven innings and struck out three batters.
Kale Carpenter was 2-for-4 with an RBI, Smith was 3-for-5 from the plate with two ribbies, Cooper McClure had an RBI single, Jackson Warren added two hits, Randall Mason had a hit and Dex Ebarb had a single with two ribeyes.
Atlanta is set to meet White Oak in round two of the playoffs.
