Queen City varsity, JV wins J.K. Hileman Relays
Queen City’s boys’ track program hosted the J.K. Hileman Relays Mar. 11.
The varsity and junior varsity teams both claimed titles for the second consecutive meet.
Varsity
The varsity boys’ team was stellar on the track as they racked up several points throughout the day.
In the 100m dash Shawn Powell placed second and Kieran Droddy sixth; in the 200m dash Shawn Powell finished first and Jeremiah Drayton third and in the 400m dash Colton Powell placed first.
In the 800m run Steven Stone placed second, Joel Upchurch fourth and Kenneth Allison sixth; in the 1600m run Trent Granberry placed fifth; in the 3200m run Granberry finished first, Nathan Upchurch second and Allison fourth; in the 110m hurdles Remington Gardner placed third and Lane Eudy fourth and in the 300m hurdles Gardner placed third.
The 4x100m relay team of Spencer Warren, Jeremiah Drayton, Josh Davis and Alijuah Drayton placed first overall; the 4x200m relay team of the same lineup placed second overall and the 4x400m relay team of Spencer Warren, Colton Powell, Trent Granberry and Alijuah Drayton placed first overall.
The varsity team also fared well in the field events. In the long jump Alijuah Drayton placed first and Shawn Powell fourth; in the triple jump Quiyon Ellison placed second, Jeremiah Drayton third and Clinty Wiley fifth; in the shot put Noah Perkins placed second and Justin Lance third; in the discus Lance placed first and Mason Stringer third; in the pole vault Steven Stone placed first, Spencer Warren second and Joel Upchurch fourth and in the high jump Shawn Powell placed third and Josh Davis fifth.
JV
The junior varsity team also set the track on fire with great finishes including sweeps in the relays.
In the 100m dash Christian Nard placed first and Luke Moore third; in the 200m dash Logan Niedens and
Christian Nard finished 2-3 and in the 400m dash Niedens placed first and teammate Brandon Harwell third.
In the 800m run Kaden Satterfield finished third and Brandon Harwell fourth; in the 1600m run Xavier Allison placed fifth and Timothy Brady placed sixth; in the 3200m run Allison placed second and in the 300m hurdles Lathan Chamblee placed first, Clint Wooding second and Trevonne Horsley fifth.
The 4x100m relay team of Kaden Fincher, Delvon Federick, Rylee Green and Nicolas Herring placed first; the 4x200m relay team of the same lineup placed first and the 4x400m relay team of Kaden Fincher, Logan Niedens, Delvon Federick and Nicolas Herring placed first.
The JV team also turned in nice finishes in the field events.
Delvon Federick placed first, Logan Niedens fourth and Rylee Green fifth in the long jump event; Delvon Federick placed first, Kaden Fincher fourth and James Obenoskey fourth in the triple jump;
In the shot put Kameron Wright placed third and Daniel Jones fifth; in the discus Kameron Wright placed fifth and James Obenoskey sixth; in the pole vault Jeremiah Henderson and Isaac Thomas tied for second and Luke Moore placed fifth and in the high jump Brandon Harwell placed first and teammate Clint Wooding second.
