Queen City JV beats Rivercrest, 38-6
The Queen City Junior Varsity Bulldogs opened the 2023 season with a 38-6 victory over the Rivercrest Rebels.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring on their first drive when Payton Glass connected with Trenton Belk on a 43-yard scoring toss, Kordell Federick converted the 2-point conversion giving the Bulldogs an early 8-0 lead with 7:43 left in the first quarter.
Rivercrest responded with a touchdown of their own as Noxx Bond connected with Ben Duvall on a 59-yard touchdown pass, however, the Bond conversion pass was incomplete leaving the score 8-6 with 7:18 left in the first quarter.
Queen City extended their lead as Derell Sewell scored on a 23-yard run. Glass’ conversion pass to Sewell was successful and with 7:36 left in the second quarter, the Bulldogs lead was 16-6.
QC finished their first half with one more score as Glass connected with Belk for a second time on a touchdown pass covering five yards. Jaron Jaynes ran in the 2-point conversion increasing the Bulldog lead to 24-6 with 30 seconds left in the half.
After forcing a punt from Rivercrest, the Bulldogs again scored on their opening possession of the second half as Federick scored on a 5-yard run. Glass then passes to Cameron Clarke for the 2-point conversion increasing the Bulldog lead to 32-6 with 5:01 left in the third quarter.
The final points of the game occurred with 6:49 left in the game as Sean Missildine scored on a 16-yard run, the 2-point conversion failed making the final score 38-6. The Bulldogs travel to New Boston this Thursday night, Aug. 31, for their second game of the season. Gametime is set for 5 p.m.
