Queen City falls to Ore City 49-21 in rain-soaked contest
The Queen City Bulldogs traveled to Ore City last Friday night to take on the Rebels.QC lost to the Daingerfield Tigers in the previous week and Ore City looked to rebound from a loss against New Diana. Ore City began the game on offense and scored its first touchdown of the night on the fourth play of the drive. Queen City’s first drive resulted in a three-and-out. Ore City took possession of the ball near midfield and managed another quick touchdown to take a 13-0 lead with 8:20 remaining in the first quarter. Queen City’s offense began to come alive on its next possession. The Bulldogs began the drive on their own 16-yard line and methodically marched the ball down the field. Quarterback Dylan Scott ran the ball for a 19 yard gain, completed an 18-yard pass to T’Angelo Neal, and Neal eventually capped the drive with an eight-yard touchdown run as the Bulldogs cut the lead to six points. Ore City went on to score two additional touchdowns in the first quarter extending its lead to 28-7. Ore City’s success on offense continued into the second quarter as the Rebels scored two touchdowns on a 30-yard pass and a three-yard run. Late in the third quarter, the Rebels’ offense was in a fourth-down-and-12 situation and attempted a short pass. Scott stepped in front of the ball for an interception. Three plays later, Scott found Adorian Booth for a 47-yard touchdown completion. Julian Rea converted the PAT and the Bulldogs trailed by 27 points. Early in the fourth quarter with Ore City on offense, the Rebels attempted a pass on first and 10 at their own 42-yard line. Neal intercepted the ball and sprinted into the end zone for a 48-yard pick-six touchdown. The PAT by Rea was successful and the Bulldogs point total was 21. The Rebels answered on their next possession as they put together a 44-yard touchdown drive and a two-point conversion. This would be the last score of the night for either team and the game ended with the final score of Queen City 21 and Ore City 49. The Bulldogs will travel to Waskom this Friday night to take on the Wildcats. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at Waskom High School.
