Queen City Archery advances to Nationals
The Queen City Archery team consisted of 150 archers this year. Seventy-two of those archers competed in the Texas State NASP Archery Tournament in Belton, March 26-27, along with 3,220 other Texas archers in grades 4-12.
Queen City was able to qualify an elementary, middle school and high school team in both Bullseye and 3D for the 2024 NASP Nationals on May 9-11 in Louisville, Kentucky.
Queen City student archers, coaches, and parents will travel to the Bluegrass state’s Exposition Center (KEC) located in Louisville, Kentucky where more than 16,000 archers are expected to compete on the national stage.
Here are the results from the NASP Texas State Tournament: In Bullseye (Traditional Targets) JKH Team score was 2881 placing them 6th out of 31 elementary teams. MUMS Team score was 3145 placing them 12th out of 61 middle school teams. QCHS Team score was 3193 placing them 15th out of 66 high school teams. In 3-D (Animal Targets) JKH Team score was 1334 placing them 8th out of 30 elementary teams. MUMS Team score was 1540 placing them 10th out of 50 middle school teams. QCHS Team score was 1574 placing them 12th out of 65 high school teams. Middle School Team Qualifiers - TJ Rose, Wynter Niedens, Jack Sumpter, Emma Deering, Carter Aucoin, Miles Hogue, Peyton Fahrney, Israel Hancock, Kutter Mitchell, Mariah Simmons, Remington Earp, Allison-Taliyah Hancock, Lillian Restelle, Kayson Saulsbury, Sawyer Smith, Arri’anna Simmons, Andrea Stout and Silas Miller.
High School Team Qualifiers - Kingston Boyter, TJ Guest, Katelyn Upchurch, Macy Snelgrove, Corey Black, Gracie Alexander, Chris Brown, Emily Raines, Bailee Endsley, Caitlyn Sponholz, Caleb Kimble, Isaac Thomas, Alexander Long, Anna Leigh Young, Joseph Revey and Bailee Black.
Also competing at the State Tournament were Allan Callison, Frankie Echeverria, Elijah Madewell, Cason Holmes, Boston Beers, Kutter Howard, Colby Williams, Alice Wise, Monte Wilson, Jaxon Carrell, Madeline McMicheal, Xander Brown, Brody Russell, Anyiah Wilson, Madison Knight, JT Matlock and Makayla Wilson.
All of QC’s participating archers also received the Academic Archer award for their excellence in academics.
