QC volleyball battles county foes
Queen City’s volleyball program visited Hughes Springs Aug. 31, and hosted Linden-Kildare Sept. 3.
Hughes Springs
The varsity team started off well with a 25-20 first-set win but the Lady Mustangs won the next three sets by scores of 25-22, 25-23 and 25-10.
Chyna Stiger posted 11 kills, two aces and six digs; setter Mallori Stringer added four kills, 22 assists, two aces and nine digs; Lauren Carrell recorded eight kills, three aces and seven digs; Nyla Harrison had a kill, two blocks, two aces and nine digs and Brenna Turbeville chipped in two aces and had 16 digs for QC.
The JV squad was victorious after taking down Hughes Springs in three sets.
QC took set one 25-14 but the Lady Mustangs won set two 25-12.
The third and deciding set was a thriller but QC pulled away and won 25- 17.
Courtney Price earned 13 service points and an additional two aces, Madisyn Bailey put up two kills and three blocks, Jacey Cauthorn added three kills and Alex Larry had two kills.
Linden-Kildare
The Lady Bulldogs traveled down the road to play county rival Linden-Kildare.
QC won the first two sets by identical scores of 25-16 but L-K fought back and won set three 25-20 which forced a fourth set.
The Lady Bulldogs claimed victory with a 25-10 win.
Chyna Stiger brought seven kills, six digs and eight service points; Nyla Harrison posted 18 service points, five of which were aces and four kills; Lauren Carrell added five kills, six aces, 11 service points and three digs and Mallori Stringer put up five kills, six digs and helped the Lady Bulldogs with 20 assists throughout the night.
