McLeod, Linden-Kildare players notch All-District honors

Steven Lambeth named Coach of the Year

McLeod and Linden-Kildare’s boys’ basketball teams had exceptional seasons on the hardwood in District 16AA.

The Longhorns finished the season undefeated in district play for the second year in a row and L-K secured third place in district.

Both teams made the playoffs and its players were awarded All-District honors for doing just that and more.

Mr. Double, Keldyn Schubert earned the MVP award for his outstanding play.

Schubert not only secured plenty of double-doubles during the season but claimed a few triple-doubles and quadruple-doubles too.

He also broke a 1A-6A state record for career assists with 1,149.

Teammate Casey Smith was tabbed the Co-Offensive MVP and Tyler Williams earned the 6th Man award.

With a wonderful cast of players Coach Steven Lambeth led the Longhorns deep into the playoffs once again.

This netted him Coach of the Year for the second consecutive year.

First Team honors went to Nos Gryder, Silas Murdock and Nathan Parker; Second Team honors went to Austin Gilmore and Gabe Groves; and Honorable Mention Players were Mason Teer, Ethan Armstrong and Braden Parker.

Longhorns named to the Academic All-District list were Keldyn Schubert, Gabe Groves, Casey Smith, Silas Murdock, Tyler Williams, Mason Teer, Nathan Parker and Braden Parker.

L-K had plenty of success as well. Although they were cast into a tough district the Tigers clawed its way into the playoffs.

The Tigers finished the season as Bi-District champs and Area Finalists for the second time in three years.

First Team players for L-K included Chase Bynum and Jordan Swanson; Second Team players were Mason Johnson and Puff Peters; and Honorable Mention players were Tawin Patterson, Critter Palmer, Russel Nance and Jonathan Owen.
