McLeod

The McLeod Lady Longhorns hosted Linden-Kildare Jan. 21, and came away with a win. Gracie Lance led the way for McLeod with 14 points and eight rebounds, Sibbie Comer added 12 points, Kaitlyn Cross had nine, Ella Lambeth eight, Cary May and Chassie Gryder had six apiece and Jillian Parker posted four points. Jan. 24, the Lady Longhorns traveled to Detroit for a district matchup. McLeod took a, 24-14, lead into the second half but Detroit went on a 33-17 run to pull off the, 47-41, comeback win. Gracie Lance had 11 points and 10 rebounds and both Cary May and Kaitlyn Cross had nine points apiece.

The No. 8 ranked McLeod Longhorns hosted county foe Linden-Kildare Jan. 21, and posted a, 72-47, win. The contest was close after the first quarter as Mc-Leod led, 20-18, but the ’Horns went on a 52-29 run the rest of the way to seal the victory. Keldyn Schubert had 27 points for McLeod (24-2, 5-0), Trevor Deel added 17 points with 12 boards and Casey Smith poured in 14 points. Red Tyson had 14 points for L-K and Tay Johnson added 10. In the JV game McLeod won, 52-42, with Gabe Groves posting 25 points, Trenton McKnight eight and Braden Parker eight. Jan. 24, the Longhorns battled Detroit and left town with a, 56-23, win. Trevor Deel led all scorers 21 points and 10 rebounds, Kobe Bonner added 10 points, Keldyn Schubert had eight points and 10 assists and Casey Smith posted eight points for McLeod (25-2, 6-0).

Atlanta

The Atlanta Rabbits hosted New Boston Jan. 24, in a district contest in which the Rabbs won, 68-46. Daimion Collins had a monster game with 43 points, 11 rebounds and nine blocks, Hunter Allen added 16 points and Keyshawn Easter eight.

M.U.M.S.

Morris Upchurch Middle School’s girls’ basketball program competed with Paul Pewitt last week. The seventh grade team won, 31-25, with Laterika Jackson scoring 16 points and the eighth grade team rolled, 66-10, with Lauren Carrell posting 18 points.
