Lady Wildcats win Regional Quarterfinal title
Bloomburg’s softball team won a Regional Quarterfinal championship last weekend after beating Neches in two games, 14-4 and 5-3.
Game One
In game one the Lady Wildcats and Neches were tied at 1-1 until the fourth inning where Bloomburg exploded for eight runs.
The Lady ’Cats added five more runs over the next two innings.
Corinne Ray gave up four hits in six innings and struck out 11. She also hit a single from the dish.
Haylee Breedlove hit a double, a single, had three stolen bags and had a RBI, Katie Mote hit a double, Sunni Blizzard hit a dub and had two ribbies, Jaysi Pond added a hit and two RBIs, Kaleigh Glasgow hit a RBI single, Cassie Glasgow hit a single, Emalee Blizzard hit two singles and had two RBIs and Skyler Newell hit a RBI single.
Game Two
The second game was a little closer as Neches jumped out to a 2-0 lead early.
Bloomburg plated four runs before Neches scored its last run of the game. The Lady Wildcats scored once more later in the contest.
Corinne Ray scattered five hits over seven innings and struck out four. She also hit a single from the plate.
Cassie Glasgow hit a double and had a RBI, Jaysi Pond added a single, Sunni Blizzard hit two singles, Haylee Breedlove hit a RBI single, Emalee Blizzard hit two singles and had two RBIs and Skyler Newell hit two singles and had a ribeye.
The Lady ’Cats will face Fruitvale in the Regional Semifinals at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 13, in a 1-game playoff in Longview.
