Lady Tigers complete first round of district play with 4-1 record

Linden-Kildare’s varsity volleyball team is off to a hot start in district play as they put together some impressive wins and boosted their record to 4-1.
L-K faced Big Sandy Sept. 26, and lost a hard fought battle in five sets with scores of, 15-25, 25-18, 18-25, 25-20, 8-15.
MaKayla Martin had 12 points, 21 digs and three aces, Siarra Johnson eight points, 31 assists and two aces and Jamiya Gaston 11 kills and nine blocks.
In the JV match the team lost a three set match, 19-25, 25-23, 25-6. Kendall Wells and Kasity Hernandez each scored seven points in the loss.  
Sept. 29, L-K defeated Union Grove, 25-23, 25-18, 25-22.
Siarra Johnson dished out 24 assists to lead the way for Linden-Kildare, adding eight service points. Kayla Hines had two kills and two digs, Skylar Vaughn six points and 10 digs, Savannah Amaya six points, two kills and seven digs, Peyton Turner one point and one dig, La’Keia Patterson five points, Zardajah Mitchell two kills, MaKayla Martin 10 points and 18 digs, Stormie Littlejohn three kills and Jaimya Gaston 17 kills, four blocks and two digs.
L-K hosted Hawkins Oct. 3, and both the varsity and JV won in straight sets.
For the varsity Siarra Johnson finished with 19 assists, six points, four aces and four digs, and Linden-Kildare improved to 4-1 in District 19-2A play (13-16 overall) with a, 25-14, 25-15, 25-16 win over Hawkins.
Kayla Hines added three kills for Linden-Kildare, which also got eight points, three aces, seven assists and five digs from Skylar Vaughn, six points, eight kills and five digs from Amaya Savannah, seven points and nine digs from Peyton Turner, five points, two aces and five digs from La’Keia Patterson, two kills and two digs from Zardajah Mitchell, 19 digs and seven points from MaKayla Martin, six kills from Stormie Littlejohn and eight kills from Jaimya Gaston.
The JV team won their first match of the year after topping Hawkins, 25-22, 25-23. Top servers for the team were Jessie Haley with six points and Marissa Tyson with 14 points. Along with strong serves both Haley and Tyson, along with Kendall Wells and D’Shantie Sadler had big games at the net hitting and blocking.  Kasity Herndandez had another solid game playing defense in the back row.  
The Lady Tigers’ hosted Union Hill Oct. 10, on Senior Night.
