Lady Rabbs sink Hooks, 11-1

Atlanta’s varsity softball squad crushed the Hornets, 11-1, Apr. 13 and stayed perfect in district play.

The Lady Rabbs (17-1-1, 10-0) and Hooks were knotted at, 1-1, after three innings of play but Atlanta plated eight runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth which forced the umpires to call the game on the mercy rule.

Jordan Hodge scattered three hits over five innings and struck out six.

Freshman Victoria Clayton called ballgame when she hit her seventh home run of the season; a first-pitch 2-run homer over the left field wall.

Clayton ended the game 3-for-4 with a single, a double, a 2-run shot and four RBIs which boosted her batting average well over .600.

Callie Dyer celebrated Senior Night as the lone senior and promptly went 2-for- 2 from the dish with a single, a double and an RBI, Sabriiyah Young was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a stolen bag, Hodge hit a double, Valerie Mason and Madeline Clayton hit a singles and notched one RBI apiece, both Hannah Wall and Cara Taylor added singles and Sydni Davis, Kalissa Reliford and Kelsey Nash contributed one run each.
